Early Detection Pregnancy Tests

Start testing from six days before an expected period. Test at the same time each day. If the urine sample has been refrigerated, allow it to reach room temperature (about 20 minutes). For most accurate results, refer to the instructions leaflet.

When pregnant, your body produces a pregnancy hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). This hormone appears in your urine shortly after fertilisation takes place. The bébé bloom Early Detection Pregnancy Test can detect tiny amounts of this hormone in your urine as the sensitivity of this test is 10mIU/ml and can therefore detect if you are pregnant with 99% accuracy.

The test is designed to detect your HCG hormones as early as five (5) days before the expected period, and as early as six (6) days before the day of the missed period. The amount of pregnancy hormone increases as pregnancy progresses. If you test before your period is due and get a “Not Pregnant” result, there is still a chance that you may be pregnant.

To work out when your period is expected, calculate your usual cycle length by counting the number of days from the first day of your period until the day before your next period starts. The day of your expected period is based on the average number of menstrual cycle days reported for 3 previous cycles.

A positive result indicates it’s highly likely that you are pregnant. We recommend speaking with your doctor to confirm your pregnancy and discuss the next steps. Check with your doctor if you received this result and don’t think you’re pregnant. If the Test Line (T) is faint and you’re unsure, test again at least 48 hours after initial testing. The T Line will darken as the body produces a greater concentration of your HCG hormone after conceiving.

Yes. This should be interpreted as a positive result, you are likely pregnant.

This result means it’s unlikely you are pregnant. It could also mean the levels of your pregnancy hormone may not be high enough yet to be detected, or you may have miscalculated the day your period was expected. If you still suspect you’re pregnant, you should repeat the test using a new urine sample at least 48 hours after initial testing. If the second test is still negative, and you still haven’t got your period, seek advice from your doctor.

Blotches, shadows, or evaporation marks are not a positive result. The test line will be distinct and pronounced. If the line is faint and you are unsure, try testing again in 48 hours. The line will darken as greater concentrations of your HCG hormone are produced after conceiving.

Negative results are expected in healthy, non-pregnant people. If you find the test is producing an unexpected result, discuss this with your doctor.

Fertility drugs containing HCG may provide a false “pregnant” result if tested too soon after administration. These fertility drugs are usually given by injection.

Other fertility therapies (e.g. clomiphene citrate), pain killers, antibiotics, or hormonal contraceptives (e.g. contraceptive pill) should not affect the test.

If you have recently stopped using hormonal contraception or are using fertility therapies like clomiphene citrate, your periods may be irregular, leading to an inaccurate testing window.

If you have recently been pregnant (e.g., delivery, spontaneous abortion, or termination), you may get a false “pregnant” result.

If a coloured line appears in the control region (C), you followed the test procedure correctly and the proper amount of urine was absorbed. If you’ve waited 5 minutes and no lines appear in the C region, you should retest using a new test kit.

A strong positive result will be visible in as little as 10-30 seconds. A weak positive result could take up to 5 minutes. We recommend you wait the complete reaction time of 5 minutes to confirm a negative result. If you received a positive result this won’t change after the 5-minute waiting period. To avoid incorrect test results, disregard after 15 minutes.

Alcohol may or may not influence the test. For accuracy, we recommended not taking the test after drinking alcohol.

Clinical evaluations have proven the test device to be more than 99% accurate from the first day of your expected period. Please keep in mind that the amount of HCG can vary greatly depending on gestational age and between individuals.

You can take the test at any time during the day. However, your first urine of the day will typically contain a higher concentration of HCG. If you’re testing before your expected period, we recommend you test with your first urine of the day. We also recommend avoiding excessive fluid intake before testing to prevent sample dilution.

The test detects HCG in urine at concentrations of 10mIU/mL or greater.

Due to the sensitivity of the test, people in menopause or perimenopause may have circulating levels of pituitary HCG. This might result in false positive results. In this case, using the bébé bloom® Pregnancy Test with higher sensitivity of 25mIU/mL is recommended.
